Blossoms at the University of Delaware – Pilot Program
Blossoms at the University of Delaware is a six-month pilot program established to provide floral designs and plant materials for special events held at the University of Delaware. Using a student-driven laboratory model, Blossoms at the University of Delaware is designed to provide a comprehensive experiential learning opportunity for students of the College of Agriculture & Natural Resources (CANR), as well as students in other disciplines. During the pilot phase, students will work in all aspects of event floral business with THERESA Floral Design, a successful floral design studio based in Newark, DE. The pilot program, which is supported by two student internships and modeled after the highly successful UDairy Creamery, is aligned directly with the teaching, research, and outreach programs of CANR’s Department of Plant and Soil Sciences.
Floral arrangements for special events are the main product offered by Blossoms at the University of Delaware. Among the campus offices scheduled to work with the student-centered Blossoms at the University of Delaware are the President’s Office, Aramark, the Development Office, Conference Services, Vita Nova, and STAR Campus. Field-cut bouquets, holiday promotional items, plant rental, and a parent’s subscription program will be offered as staff and resources are available.
The pilot program begins August 15, 2015 and runs through February 15, 2016.
UD offices interested in working with Blossoms at the University of Delaware are encouraged to complete and submit a brief online interest form. Upon receipt, someone from Blossoms at the University of Delaware will be in contact within 24 hours to discuss details or schedule a meeting.
