Melanie Lopez is a Pre-Veterinary & Animal Biosciences major at the University of Delaware who studied the environmental impacts of water-based foam used during depopulation in response to avian outbreaks. She worked with Dr. Eric Benson to determine if there should be any alteration in the preparation of the foam to prevent negative environmental impacts in the weeks following a depopulation.
She wishes to pursue a Master’s degree and study epidemiology or something similar. The research that she did in envision she believes will be similar to the work that she does post-graduation.
