What do you like about the UD College of Agriculture and Natural Resources?

CANR has so many opportunities through all of the amazing academic programs with friendly and caring faculty. The hands-on farm experience that starts the first week you are on campus gives you so many opportunities that are unique to UD. Also, CANR has so many clubs, programs, and organizations that really make it stand out. From study abroad programs, to Greek life, to the many clubs, there truly is something for everyone in CANR here at UD.

What is your most memorable AG or UD experience?

My most memorable CANR experience is the dairy cattle management lab that I completed in my first semester here at UD. This lab is a part of the ANFS 111 lab that freshman pre-vet majors take. We worked with many different aspects of the dairy industry, but the part that stuck out to me was working with the dairy calves. We worked to handle them and take measurements like their temperature, height, and respiration rate to ensure that they were healthy. The calves are so cute and personable, and very inquisitive. This gave me the opportunity to work with animals that I have never worked with before and I think it's safe to say that I fell in love with the adorable calves!

What are your career goals?

Here at UD I plan to earn a bachelor's degree in Pre-Veterinary Medicine and Animal Biosciences. I then plan to attend vet school to get my doctorate in veterinary medicine. I plan to eventually open my own vet practice that works to serve animals of any kind in my community. I want to use my education to give back to the community and educate people so that the people and animals are safe and healthy, creating an environment that is beneficial for everyone involved.

What is an interesting or unusual fact about you?

I actually grew up raising and showing market pigs for 10 years in 4-H and FFA, but I don't have very much experience in other sectors of agriculture which is why I came to UD to gain that experience, and I couldn't be happier with that decision!

What is your favorite book, movie or song?

Movie: Elf! "You know the best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear!"
