Evergreen Witchhazel, Chinese Fringe-flower
China
Irregular, rounded shrub.

Specimen, shrub border and naturalizing. A container grown patio plant for the mid-Atlantic.
Lustrous dark green year round. Alternate, ovate to elliptical, serrate to entire, 1 to 2.5 inches long, pubescent.
Buds are small brown, imbricate.
Stems are slender and brown.
White, clustered in the axils of leaves, perfect. Four petals similar to witchhazel about .75 inches long. Mild fragrance when the plants flower in April.
Brown capsule like witchhazel.
Cuttings collected in July, treated with 3000 ppm IBA, alcohol quick dip, placeed in perlite:peat under mist should root at least 80 percent. Rooting medium should['t hold too much moisture or the cuttingts will rot. Wean from mist as soon as rooted. Soft or firm wooded cuttings are best.

Some plants have maroon foliage in the winter while others have green foliage.
