Partial shade, moist, highly organic, acidic soil.
Specimen plant and rock gardens. Grown as much for foliage as flower.
Alternate, lanceolate, entire, 2.75 to 6 inches long. The underside of the leaf is densely tomentosely pubescent. There is, quite possibly, enough fiber on each leaf to spin a skein of yarn!
In terminal trusses. Individual flowers are campanulate, pink and about 2 inches. Flowers in May - June.
