Suckery, 2-4 stemmed shrub. Deciduous
Moist to dry soil (not wet). Full to part sun. Tolerates difficult conditions. Will sucker if mulched.
Good for mass plantings along banks and roadsides. Orange/yellow fall color.
Alternate, pinnately compound with a winged petiole and rachis.
Buds are pubescent, gray-brown with a C-shaped leaf scar.
Pubescent, thick coarse stem.
Dramatic yellowish-white flowers in August/September.
Densely pubescent, orange-red drupe maturing in October.
