Sun with moist well drained soils. Avoid sweeping winter winds.
Good evergreen specimen with tight habit.
Spirally arranged but spreading in a horizontal plane. Needle-like leaves .75 to 1 inch long and sharply pointed at the apex. Foliage dark green with two stomatal bands beneath. Crushed needles are quite aromatic.
Buds are ovate with keeled scales.
Two-year-old stems are reddish brown.
Ellipsoidal, fleshy cone, about 1 to 1.25 inches long.
