Students experience all that the college has to offer. By choosing courses across all four of our departments, undergraduates gain practical, interdisciplinary experience, making them appealing to employers looking for graduates with diverse backgrounds.
In your first semester, you will work with horses, cows, sheep and yes, blue hens, on our 350-acre farm. Our combination of courses in the basic sciences and hands-on experience with animals makes our program truly distinctive.
Apply economic principles to the many environmental and natural resource issues facing our society. Work with faculty on research projects involving land use, agricultural preservation, environmental stewardship, marketing of organic or natural products, community economic development and agricultural trade and marketing.
The food and fiber industries constitute approximately 16 percent of the U.S. economy with a value of over $2.5 trillion and 20 million jobs. Learn and apply your knowledge of marketing, management, sales and business.
Sustainable food production is key to the U.S. and its role in the global economy. Employ scientific principles in the design of new food products and explores ways to process, package and preserve the thousands of food items we consume to ensure their safety and quality.
Study the most abundant creatures on Earth — insects — and their interactions with other wildlife, humans, and the environment. Graduates work as pest control operators or agricultural entomologists in the areas of integrated pest management, biological control, urban entomology, forensic entomology, or environmental education.
Collaborative industry and on-campus partnerships allow students to engage in projects that involve entrepreneurship, art and design, leadership and engineering. The program combines science, art and problem solving with a love of nature and the world outdoors.
This interdisciplinary program combines economics, policy and science in an effort to study and manage our natural resources and environment. Students acquire the skills to develop, tackle and solve the environmental problems of our time.
From the most recent advances in plant molecular biology to the latest methods for growing healthy plants, student learn and incorporate these practices through their evolving knowledge of the plant kingdom.
Work with animals on our on-campus, 350-acre farm, learning and solving problems in animal nutrition, immunology, virology and molecular biology. Our students are admitted to veterinary schools at twice the national average.
With the increase in data available to businesses, organizations and consumers, the need to make sense of that data has exploded. Our students build a “statistical imagination” to address a range of problems in a diverse set of fields.
Sustainable Food Systems will train you to approach key food system challenges critically and innovatively — from agriculture and production, processing, retail consumption and waste. Sustainable food businesses, nonprofits and policymakers need more thinkers, strategists, planners and activists to help lead the population in utilizing, yet preserving our precious natural resources.
Conserving the Earth’s wildlife and protecting the planet are grand challenges of our time. Work with faculty on research projects, in-class field work and study abroad opportunities around the globe.
