Melissa De Los Santos
Melissa De Los Santos is an Animal Science major at the University of Delaware. She worked with Dr. Hong Li on the microbial environment of poultry litter treated with Sodium Bisulfate (PLT). The litter is designed to trap ammonia, and their research focuses on both improving poultry health and reducing ammonia emissions into the environment. Her goal was to implement an efficient and cost-effective ammonia management strategy.
Melissa wants to work with an organization that optimizes the well being of domestic or farm animals. This research will help her to understand the impact of microbial environments on the animals that she wants to work with.
