Aquilegia canadensis

One of the earliest nectar sources for bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds, this native blooms from April through June. Its vibrant red and yellow flowers add a pop of color to shady gardens yet tolerate sun. Thriving in the eastern half of the U.S., it readily self-seeds when given the right conditions.
