Native member of the lily family that thrives in rich, moist, acidic, well-drained soils. Basal rosette of foliage has central flowering stalk. Male and female flowers are on separate plants (dioecious) and are displayed in mid-late spring. Flowers on the male plant grow in arching, plume-like spikes (up to 9″); flowers on female plants are in smaller spikes. Both attractive, female slightly more so.
