White, bottlebrush-like flowers emerge before foliage in the spring. Powdery-blue leaves, prevalent on new foliage and throughout the growing season, turn brilliant orange red in fall. Native shrub used by Lepidoptera as Larval (caterpillar) food source. Fothergillas are native to temperate regions southeast of the Mississippi, just below the mid-Atlantic, and are lovely and functional additions to any garden or plant matrix.
