Heuchera richardsonii is a Midwestern U.S. and Canadian native with a mounded rosette of curly-edged foliage. Young plants may show white or red-tinged variegation. In spring, 2–3 ft. flower stalks emerge, bearing pale green to reddish blooms with striking orange stamens.

Thriving in well-draining, sandy, or gravelly soils, it tolerates more sun in northern regions but prefers partial shade in hotter climates. Shallow-rooted, it benefits from winter mulch. Its tubular flowers attract hummingbirds, butterflies, and the specialist bee Colletes aestivalis.
