Ophiopogon planiscapus ‘Nigrescens’

Common Name: Black Mondo Grass

Plant Size: Quart

Striking form of mondo grass, growing in little tufts with nearly black-purple foliage and lilac-colored flowers followed by blue-black fruit. Grows and propagates very slowly, though tough, hardy, and thoroughly worth the wait and effort. Excellent planted along edges of paving to soften hardscape, or planted en masse as groundcover, or in between stepping stones. Full sun heightens the black color, but does equally well in shade.
