Chanticleer Trough Combining bulbs with perennials, shrubs and other bulbs can provide additional excitement and artistry to the garden. Ever consider perennializing bulbs in the lawn? Want to create dramatic backdrops or hide faded foliage? Need tips for making tulips last longer? Join Chanticleer Horticulturist, Photographer and Garden Artist Lisa Roper in this virtual lecture as she shares design inspiration and practical tips, as well as some of her favorite varieties including the lesser known bulbs. We’ll also learn the art and technique of how-to plan for what follows once the bulbs have finished their performance. Come enjoy an informative and inspiring evening.

Chanticleer Ruin

Lisa Roper is the Gravel Garden and Ruin horticulturist at Chanticleer, a public garden in Wayne PA, where she has gardened for the past 30 years in various parts of the garden. Lisa also photographs Chanticleer Garden weekly for ‘What’s in Bloom’ on the Chanticleer website. Many of Chanticleer gardeners also make the artful horticultural installations seen throughout the garden. Chanticleer has been called “America’s Most Inspiring Garden” by Garden Design Magazine.

Lisa has a bachelors in fine arts degree from The Cooper Union in NYC where she studied fine art and photography. She is a graduate of the Longwood Gardens Professional Gardener (now LWG Professional Horticulture) Training Program. Lisa has been a guest gardener at Stellenbosch University Garden in South Africa and Great Dixter in West Sussex, UK. She is also a contributing author to The Art of Gardening: Design Inspiration and Planting Techniques from Chanticleer.

In her spare time, she gardens at home with her husband, Landscape Architect Allan Summers and a flock of chickens who nibble the insects as she weeds.
