Orchids aren’t hard to grow, they’re just different! Together we’ll explore a dozen orchids that anyone can learn to grow at home. As we talk about each plant, what makes it amazing, and its culture, we’ll also discuss general orchid culture. As a bonus, we’ll also cover three groups of more unusual orchids suitable for more experienced growers.

Greg Griffis currently oversees the expansive orchid collection at Longwood Gardens. Prior to joining the Longwood horticultural team, Greg managed Parkside Orchid Nursery before working with Hilo Orchid Farm in Hawaii. There he worked intensively with Paphiopedilum, intergeneric Oncidiinae, and Miltoniopsis.

About – Greg Griffis

Since his arrival to Longwood, the orchid collection has grown and changed significantly. Today he works closely with Research and Conservation to develop a collection of terrestrial orchids from across the globe, and has initiated a number of breeding programs.

In an era of unprecedented growth, along with the opening of the Reimagined Orchid House at Longwood, the future of the orchid collection is wide open and the possibilities for innovation are endless!
