Come join the UDBG’s volunteer corps. There is a place for people with all kinds of talent, skills, and interests. Volunteers play a crucial role in all UDBG activities. Volunteering at UDBG is a great way to interact with fellow plant lovers in pleasant surroundings and to expand your gardening knowledge.

Volunteer Opportunities

Garden Projects/Maintenance

Volunteers will participate in plant and garden maintenance, project
installation, and plant sale preparation.

Production and Maintenance

Help transplant and maintain plants in the nursery and greenhouse. Propagate plants from seeds and cuttings. Maintenance may include watering, weeding, and moving plant material.

Office Administration

Provide an extra-hand to staff with mailings and special event preparation.

Plant Research & Record Keeping

Assist staff with short term projects. Projects may include garden and/or computer assistance.

Plant Sales

Join in the preparation and staffing of the annual plant sales. Preparation includes researching plant names, creating and printing plant image signs, and general sale preparation.

Education Program Assistance

Provide assistance for lectures, workshops, and special events. Includes staffing of information and registration tables at lectures, preparation and distribution of program and support materials.


Capture the plants, gardens, and landscapes throughout the year with images to be used for UDBG educational and marketing purposes. Photographic equipment not provided.

Special Projects/Skills

Have a skill we failed to capture? E.g. Carpentry/Handiwork; Writing/Editing, Artistic Skills. We may have the perfect project for you.
